Black and White Images

As a photographer, I love the mystery that black and white images give. When viewing black and whites, everyone I speak to, wants to look deeper into the image, know more about the subject and query the emotion behind it. I also like the vintage look it gives.

When viewing colour images, your eyes tend to draw more to the colours and contrasts, rather than who you have photographed. This isn't a bad thing, but its an edge, I feel that black and white images have over colour.

Seeing your black‑and‑white series instantly took me back to a rainy Saturday in my hometown when I was twelve, wandering the old downtown with a disposable camera my dad gave me. I remember the way the streetlights turned the wet pavement into a glossy, silver river and how the shadows of the shop windows seemed to whisper stories. I snapped a few frames on impulse, later developing them in my mother’s kitchen, and the prints came out with that unmistakable grain and contrast that only monochrome can deliver. https://backloggd.com/u/yannisdiop/ Those pictures still sit on my fridge, a reminder of how a simple lack of colour can actually make a scene feel richer, more intimate. Your post captures that same quiet…
