My maternity/newborn photography sessions can be done either at a studio in the Croydon area, in the comfort of your home or at an outside location of your choice as long as the weather will be good. For outside locations I will always keep an eye on the weather for that week and keep you updated, in case we need to change location or do indoors instead. The best time to do a maternity shoot will be when your bump is starting to show, so between 24-32 weeks and before you start to feel really tired. Of course, if you want to do later and feel you have the energy to do a photoshoot, we can always ensure breaks are taken to ensure you don't get too tired.
The photoshoots can include whomever you like. I always encourage you to have your partner involved as this gives more emotion and togetherness in the photographs. Also, including children you already have also adds a real lovely touch. How you want your images is totally up to you.
You can do your photoshoot either as just maternity or as a package to include when your baby is here. The best time to do is from 10 days old, or 5-6 weeks old for newborn. For more newborn babies, there will be more chance they will be asleep in the images. The older they are, the more alert they will be and so you are more likely to get more images of your baby awake that the more posed images of a sleeping baby.
When is the best time to book your photo shoot?
To ensure you get your favoured date, I would suggest you book at 20 weeks. However, do feel free to contact me to see if I have availability as I will always be happy to find a date for you, if you are nearer 30 weeks plus.
Can my partner be involved?
Absolutely! This is about the both of you and the new life you are both creating. Having your partner involved really brings out the love and emotion you are both feeling during this special time.
Where will my photo shoot take place?
Your photo shoot can take place in the studio, your home or at a favoured outdoor location of your choice. Depending on where you are, I will give you a choice of the best locations and you can then choose your favourite. For photo shoots in your , I will bring backdrops in keeping with the colours and outfits you will wear.
How will I know what to wear?
During your consultation, I will discuss with you your preferred outfits. Some mums to be like to show off their tummy and be bare, others like to wear loose clothing and others wear tight clothing to really emphasise their bump; it is all about what you feel comfortable wearing. I have a very nice boudoir gown, outlined with faux fur that you could wear: this outfit allows you to either cover the bump or show. Or, as aforementioned, you can wear your own outfits. It is always best to think about where your image will be hung, should you get one framed. You will want your outfit and background colour to suite the decor in your home.
Can I have my make-up professionally done?
Yes you can. I have a few make-up artists that I can highly recommend and fully trained by the brand, Catherine Tilbury. They are independent to my photography and you would discuss your requirements with them separately.
Pricing
Photo shoot sessions take place at your home, studio or at your favourite park or other suitable locations. Once the images are fully edited, they will be sent to you via secure online weblink so you can review and choose the images you like the best. Should you want to frame an image to suit that suits your taste and style of your home, we can discuss that when the time comes.
